cargo room (extra activity)

Cargo room is an initiative that brings together 30 Chilean  artists exhibiting his works in 6 municipalities of the metropolitan region during the months of September and December  of 2013. This initiative works are presented that revolve around the axis of the territory and the limit, linking in each sample with specific concepts Private, Public, Identity, Community, State and Nation.
Last Thursday I attended the exhibition of my friend Paula Urizar, who participated in the exhibition held in the commune of Huechuraba, in this fifth sample the gallery met  5 artists, all under 40 years, who developed works that call into question the rationale and actions of the state, with works from installation, video and photography display reflective visual languages.
Personally I like to attend these samples, because out of the ordinary and break with the institutional art,  and  close more to the people. I recommend this exhibition one hundred percent, because exist few initiatives like this, that beyond to show crafts, trying to educate the people.

English language challenges

I think the English program should be made stronger or better,  also I believe that the authority of the university should consider the infrastructure that is needed to impart the lessons before starting with them, in the case of arts was all improvised too, like all the things trying to make .
In the class I accommodates the section of the blog, because I feel less pressure and there is space to inquire about the spoken topics, in any way first part of the class is very necessary because it is the best way to learn to talk with other people and to engage in coherent conversation.

Either way I have to be honest and say that I do not really like the class,
not necessary because I do not like the English language or I find it unnecessary,is because I feel it is too much waste of time taking it in the last year of the race ,making it clear that this is due to administrative problems of the univerity, It is not our fault, for this reason I feel that I occupy the hours doing tasks or the same English class I could occupy doing things that please me or are related to the race.
Maybe if this course would have been the correct year could have been more beneficial for everyone, and we would be learning more.
Like other mates that course the corresponding year and learned  more than people who not able the  leveling test at time.

It is necessary that such things done on time, So that students can really learn, and does not become an obligation and boredom.

2013: good and bad points

First I like to say that this has been a long year, It is assumed that this would be my best year as it is the year of the snake, which is the year of my birth, but This year i have a series of problems with and specific area of my life, my career.

At first the year departed in a very good way, because I could win an art competition to be held in Santiago, but after that I felt had lost the sense of the career, which I took artistic stagnation.

I felt I had lost the fate that sometime had so clear, was not the sense of doing things that have no importance to society. This led me to question the choice of this career, reaching the point of trying to freeze the year.

In one point I decided it made no sense to stay in that state, as it was not productive in any way, so I decided to go ahead. Fortunately I was able to talk to one of my teachers that I tended a hand, and gave me advice to keep the horizon in this area.

At the same time I offered to be her assistant, to help her with a chair that teaches at the same university, which opened new possibilities within the university and meet new people.

Now I feel that this year successfully finish in a good way, I am doing some of my new projects, and steps to finish my last year of university .

free post-my favorite sculptor

One of my favorite artist are the Australian sculptor Ron Mueck, he is an avant-garde sculptor belonging to hyper realistic current, an art movement emerged in the early '60s, whose techniques aspire to an almost photographic precision.

One of the major exponents of the moment is the sculptor Ron Mueck, whose sculptures reproduce faithfully the details of the human body, playing with scale to create images that shake us.

In the works of Ron Mueck imposing dimensions tend to contrast with the fragility of the moment depicted: the greatest figures usually coincide with the most vulnerable.

The people depicted, seemingly ordinary, motivate tenderness and solidarity of the viewer and at the same time will face the disturbing connection between the body and existence.

to Mueck is interested in working with the visitors  empathy, so their works attempt to become a deliberate zoom in on the world that surrounds us.

"Young Couple" is one of his works, and is probably the most controversial. This is a young couple, carved small size, which seems to share a confidence. This results in the viewer, sympathy and even certain feeling of nostalgic. However, viewed from behind, the picture becomes violent to warn the aggressive hand contact with teenagers.Mueck and test all possible reading codes and allows the viewer to set their own interpretation.

the cenotaph

Socially the barrier between life and death was blur in the way that grow the presence and influence of the deaths in our society; is the case of the cenotaph, popular know it in chile like “animitas, and belong to an a conmemorative building.with citizen character.

The cenotaph evidence the displacement  of the death space inside the city, like cementaries, to the streets. The “animitas” in our society are a gesture who mixed up memory, information with reality.  Emphasize the tale of a story and a remnant of this event, in just this place. Its easier for the society rememberto this way, in part, for awaken in the viewer .

The “animitas” are  an iconography, because  they have a power to tell us quickly stories, when we are in front of the “”animnitas” we know her meaning and whats happen in this place, a “bad death”. All those information  carry us to our own religiosity, this make it fell empathy with the suject commemorate,  this make it an a mediator with God.

One of my favorite books

This time I want to talk about the last book I read this year,, and became to one my favorite. I mean "The Private life of the Trees" by Alejandro Zambra, this is not one of my favorite books, but it is one of the most beautiful I have ever read, the way to describe things is captivating.

In private life of trees Julian (the protagonist of the story) awaits Veronica (his wife) while Daniela are sleeping, her daughter. The novel part with that night waking. One hopes that opens abysses of concerns, the night progresses and Veronica don't arrive. To reassure the girl, Julian tells a story of private life of the trees, where they come to life and are the protagonists. But Veronica does not arrive. What will happen with Daniela?, what will happen when she have twenty?, thirty years?. What are the love stories that she will live?, is what Julian begins to imagine. And  the book progresses. And we don'tknow what happened to Veronica.

Zambra develops a complex and fine writing, with small everyday stories that roam common life. As Zambra himself says: "The Chilean narrators write for inside, as if the novel was, in reality, the echo of a poem long repressed". In his prose there is a lot of poetry, but that numbed by reality. The main characters are clearly self-references: students and teachers of literature. He worries about deploying spaces with few words, his books do not exceed 120 pages
